I play with the color and grid, taking traditional Palestinian motifs to create unexpected mutations in pattern. As a culture, history, and political language of steadfastness, we continue to grow, albeit in new ways. As a slow, long-lasting, handmade labour, tatreez is an inconvenient commodity. It is that inconvenience that makes it so valuable as an art form.
